Appropriate technology

1.       It means small scale of energy related, environmental friendly, income generating and transferable technology.

2.       It should be simple, economical, easy to operate, time saving and community specific.

Vastly superior to the primitive technology of by gone ages but at the same time much simpler, cheaper and free than the super technology of the rich.

Appropriate technology is not a specific package of tools and techniques, but rather an approach, which reflects a particular view of society and technology. It suggests that technology is neither neutral not does it evolves along a single path and aspect. It recognizes that different cultural and geographical groups will have different technologies appropriate to their own circus teachers; that technological self determination is essential to cultural identity and political independence.

Whether a technology is appropriate or not is measured against the following criteria which should ne locally available and sufficient: capital, labor, scale with respect to demand for the product; acceptability; maintenance capacity, construction materials, durability in output and minimum  risk of break down.
